The Book of Psalms--Hymnal of the Bible

We will dive into the Psalms this four-week session, taking a closer look at their origins, their usage in Jewish and Christian traditions, in corporate worship and personal devotion and prayer, as well as their unique suitability for singing, including ways in which Episcopalians sing the Psalms in our various liturgies and singing styles.

Music in Biblical Times

During this four-week session, we will Spend a few weeks learning about what music was like in biblical times. Scripture is replete with references to music, instruments, and singing. While many questions concerning ancient music remain unanswered, there is still much we can explore about its place in society, in worship, and how it influenced music in the early Church and down through the ages.
